A good tweed driving hat is a blessing in the winter. (Like Nick, I wear a wool felt defora quite a bit in the winter. In fact, if it's cold, I'm gonna have either a fedora, a driving hat, or a bonnet; bonnet more often that not.)
Another good thing about a driving hat is that it can be had in cotton dck for summer wear.
