Oh, how I agree with you, Richland. It should be obligatory in the profile so that it appears on every post.

We do not need the Street or house number, but the town/city, county/state and Country would be SO helpful - especially when advice is being sought.

I agree on everything. I do look for newbies. I got a hearty welcome from many of you when I joined some months back. For that I thank you. I want those new to this forum to be welcome. It is a good idea to not only look at the date, but also read the thread. You never know who you may stumble upon.

    Happy kilting

If a Newbie thread re-surfaces for someone whom I've missed issuing a welcome first time round, I can't agree that a belated welcome diminishes the welcome in any way. Yes the newbie may have joined several months ago, and if they have made a lot of posts since then there is obviously no longer a need to revive the welcome thread, as you can correspond with them on their other threads, if you haven't already done so, and therefore in these circumstances I wouldn't post a belated welcome message. However, where someone joined some months ago and has only made a few posts, I consider myself at liberty to issue a belated welcome as that person may well still be lurking and another friendly welcome might be all it takes to get them posting again. So where I missed welcoming the member first time round I would normally check the number of posts that member has made which would be my deciding factor as to whether or not to belatedly post a welcome.
