Lots of freezing rain and some sleet. We were lucky not to have lost power!

That much ice down here causes the pines to start dropping. One of my favorite things to do hear after an ice storm is to get into the woods and hear the creaking and cracking... It is quite an adventure!

We tend to get regular s*** around here. (Those of you who don't know why I blanked that word have never had to get up and shovel your roof at 4 in the morning because you can hear your roof trusses starting to crack and pop. It may be white and considered pure, but that is the dirtiest monosyllable in the English language!) When I lived up in the mountains, one of my favorite things to do was sit and watch the California transplants walking under the pine trees the day after a storm. One of the most comical sights in the world is the faces of confusion they would make while looking around for the source of the five pounds of s*** that just fell on their heads.

I know I'm twisted and evil, but ever since a bunch of California developers tried to get my abode outlawed (I lived in a mobile home park across the highway from the precious golf course full of houses they built on a flood plain.) I lost all my sympathy for Californians who move to Colorado and can't cope.

Well, 68 to 70 is quite comfortable for me. I can stand colder weather, as long as the wind isn't blowing. Cold wind hurts me, puts me in a right nasty mood.

But that's why sheep invented wool.

I'd have to be covered head to toe in it to be happy in cold wind. But unfortunately, I can't afford that much wool, and it's itchy.

On second thought, maybe you should stay home.

It started to snow here on Tuesday night (see one of my other threads for photos of me out in it in my new kilt jacket) and all day Wednesday. When I went to work Wed. evening, the snow was stopping up all the storm drains so there were lakes of water everywhere. The deepest was about two feet deep. Cars driving through that section of street were in water over their undercarriages. Now (Wed. night) it's all frozen over. At least it's easier to walk, since I can walk on the ice instead of through four-foot-wide puddles.

Sounds like I need to visit Alberta in the summertime!
