    Smile Scotch

I was just asked - what is your favorite scotch?

I want to pass along a little bit of my reply. A man should have several types of scotches at his disposal. Each has its own style that will appeal to your senses and palate depending upon your mood.

For example, sometimes after a particularly long day I may break out a glass of Lagavulin for something that is salty, smokey and no cigar could intimidate.
Other times when something lighter and brighter is called for then Cragganmore will appear. When looking to sit back and enjoy the end of a nice brisk day, Oban may be the choice of the day. A nice chocolate dessert may be the reason to take the Johnny Walker Gold from the freezer. When sharing something with a good friend, JW Blue maybe on the docket.

In summation, I think its best compared to ice cream. With all the flavors, and combinations, sometimes vanilla won't do (but sometimes it will).

    what he said..

Personally, I like a Laphroaig Cask Strength, or Caol Ila 18 yr. In a pinch any Islay will work, but those are my personal favorites.

Aye but like I said, its what appeals to YOUR senses and palate. Well, sentiment comes into play. JW blue though people have mixed feelings on it, has a ton of dear sentiment to it so I can say that it is special to me. Its the type of scotch you drink in front of a fire and get a little misty eyed over. There is a bowmore I want to try - 37 years old. I bet would be very interesting. Currently, I have a glass of Oban while I wait for the lil woman to walk in the door so i can begin to cook these two dry aged fillets. Timing is everything.

Has anybody tried the Robert Burns Single Malt by the Isle of Arran Distillery? It is very light, and perfect for dessert. One of my favorites in that price range.
