Sport Kilt vs Utilikilt
Ok please chime in on this one.
I like the look of the UK survival. I am also thinking about the Sport kilt commando.
The sportkilt commando seems more formal than the uk survival.
Communication and service:
Sportkilt wins where, currently UK has no stock and when called on the issue they said sorry dude we have NO CLUE as to when we can fill an order, good luck. I asked for a ballpark, a month, two, three. Reply: NO CLUE, we are undergoing a transition so we dont have a clue. This sounds like a episode of Seinfeld...havent a square to spare.
Sportkilt on the other hand says 2 weeks to make it and then we can ship.
Comfort: UK Survival seems to win
Durability?

I think this is very important, I would be inclined to go with Sportkilt if you are getting a run around from UK, let them figure out thier stuff then maybe you can order from them later.

I am not sure about any of this but I'm sure someone can shed some light on it.

I would suggest you do a search for any reviews of UK's or Sportkilts, there are people here that have both and I am sure that some of your questions can be answered that way.

Sportkilt = pajamas for me, though their higher end models I might run to the store in. I would really call them formal at all.
They are excellent for competing in athletic events (as the name implies) so if you arent doing that, or kicking around the house, then I personally would not have a use for one.
UK Survivals on the other hand, are a true workhorse of a kilt. Maybe not as rugged as a Workmans model, they are very robust kilts with good fabric, lots of pockets, and they can dress up nicely. Take off the side pockets and you get a pretty nice dress kilt, or leave the pockets on and its sort of the kilt version of cargo pocket chino's.
If you want a kilt NOW, well then its an easy choice since UK doesnt have any in. Of course, if there is a festival near you odds are there is something in your size you can pick up in person, regardless of what they have in the store.

Never seen the Sport Kilt Commando, though I have seen there lesser models. I have seen the UK Survival and the rest of the UK product line.
The Survival costs twice as much as the Commando, has removable pockets and a 20 microbrew capacity. It is the top of the UK product line. Generally SK is lighter weight construction than a UK, but then again they cost less too. I would suspect this an apples to oranges comparison.
I'm a big fan of UK's in general, but getting your hands on the one you want can be an endurance contest. All of the head honchos of UK are at the men's clothing trade show in Las Vegas this week, so that might be why you can't get a straight answer.
Best regards,
Jake

If you like the look of the contemporary fabric kilts, you can't go wrong with UK. But to compare the SK with a UK, I'd compare the commando to the uk original. Same price, both with side cargo pockets.

The Commando and the Survival are really two different animals in my opinion. For a comparison to a Survival I'd say you have to look at Freedom Kilts Cargo Model. I think you'll be much happier with it in the long run.
Unless you are just craving a kilt "RIGHT NOW" the SK will serve it's purpose but will not be as rugged and durable as a FK or UK.
Looking at FK's prices remember that they are Canadian so it will be right in line with a UK as far as price goes. But quality will be superior.
You mention a formal in respect to the commando. I'm not sure what you mean by that unless it's that is knife pleated. The FK's are much more traditional styled than any other contemporary kilt.
Another consideration is Renegade kilts here in Georgia. They have traditional styled contemporary kilts as well though I have not seen them in person.

Thank for the kind words Cavscout. Praise indeed.
Although I am not at the point of offering a "rush" option like Rocky I am proud to announce that our wait time is down to around 4 weeks for a custom kilt.
We would be pleased to make a kilt for you Judge.
And while I have mentioned Rocky please have a look at his site.
