Well, I've two pair of two colors, Navy and a light blue. They are different, and I like them, but the price is a stretch, even though its fair.

What I most like is the thicker, automatic, Scottish looking hose tops. There's sort of a built in garter in that theres a thin piece of elastic added at the top on the inside.

They don't feel quite as tight on my massive calves as the wool hose, more stretch or give without being loose and sloppy.

The color selection is much wider than wool hose which makes them a good resource for some "odd" colored tartans and finding that special color.

After felting and shrinking some wool hose on "gentle" cycle in the washer I took to hand washing my hose months ago. These seem to wash up easier in that the synthetic fibers in the hose don't absorb water so they're lighter when wet. The drying process seems longer since the thick tops hold water. Just have to remember to hand wring them more often in the drying process.

I like 'em. If they were the same price as wool hose I'd probably choose to buy them instead.

I'm considering buying more when my plastic is out of ICU.

    Ron,

Did you get the "fully fashioned" hose, or just the standard ones?

Sorry Dave, baffled by the terms. The hose I got were what he calls the Lewis hose and they come in about 16 different colors and the top has a thick pattern to it that you just flop over once and they've got a bit of synthetic material included. Cost is about $45 a pair I think.

Rushing off to work, can get the exact term tonight.

No problem, Ron. I believe you got the standard line of the Lewis hose. He also now has a "fully fashioned" line for those of us with "ample" calves.
