    formal wear jackets

about a week ago i posted a thread about an officers mess jacket and promised you a picture. click on link below, hopefully i've got it right?

there used rental jackets, mines in excellent condition. made of tropical wool and fully lines, don't know the brand name, but the label inside the jacket says "made in the USA". if your interested call Tom at would wide tuxedos
    1- 800- 286-7420.

jacket: $59 + $8 shipping, that shipping cost only applies to the lower 48, haven't a clue about international.

Very nice jacket. Thanks for the picture.

I would suggest you add some silver buttons, but other wise, it's great.

BTW, the first "charlie" I owned was a used rental pair of tails with the tails cut down. I wore it with the black buttons, and no one mentioned it. (Of course, I was with a bunch of guys in regular tuxedos, so all the women were admiring my kilt!)

Enjoy the great bargain. I almost wish I didn't own a charlie so I could buy one too.

    Looks good Cavscout!

I'm debating on trying to find a tweed jacket to convert, or going with a tux like the one this thread is about. Those do seem to be a good candidate for PC conversion.

The only modification I did to this jacket was replace the satin covered buttons with pewter buttons from 3 feathers.

The jacket is an Eton Tux Jacket that Alan tipped me off about on Ebay. So the overall shape of the jacket didn't change at all.

It's a bit on the small side. (if anyone is interested in buying a 44" jacket PM me. ) I'll find a 46" that will fit just right and do the same thing again.

If I had wanted to take the time and money to have someone button-hole the buttons so I could remove them for dry cleaning it would have been better but I wasn't interested in spending the extra cash at the time. I can always do that later.

Looks great Cavscout. It works perfectly with your kilt.

Heck we should buy these all up and after sewing on a few buttons sell them in to the kilted population for $200 a piece on Ebay.

cavscot, ya, it needs silver buttons, my next web adventure, to find the right buttons.

and by the way, your better half is indeed lovely.

Here is the place I got my buttons from

    http://www.threefeatherspewter.com/Buttons%20Celtic.htm

I opted for the Civil War Eagle on their Military page. Very good quality buttons.
