Methinks; Better, a bit of discomfort sooner than an embarrassing incident later. So, tell him apron to front, pleats to rear.
Besides, the dictionary defines the apron as a front covering.
Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?

In Edinburgh I came across someone trying on one of the "tat" kilts, at least I was able to educate him as to the correct way around as he too had the pleats at the front!

One would think that at least the shop staff would have educated him first!

Welcome to elbbar eht, eh the rabble... Where in Wisconsin are you located?

Certainly wish I had discovered the power of the kilt at 18 (!) My senior prom was in Wisconsin too - and in 1982 it was hip with white tuxedo, white shiny shoes and pink bow tie and cumber band

    Any kilt will top that

See the pics in the link in my post above:

You could do as is often done in Scotland: 5 yard polyviscose made in Pakistan in a fashion tartan.

I'm kind of surprised that anyone would wear a kilt backwards, it just seems strange to me.

When I was little, my mother made me wear ruffled underwear. I would wear it backwards just to see the ruffles. Maybe he's going on the same idea?

I don't think the staff in such shops know much about how to wear a kilt either - when I was in Edinburgh a few weeks ago I spotted one of them wearing a kilt on top of trousers.

When that happens, just smile and say "You got me. You're wearing it properly. Can't get anything past YOU!"
"Yeah," says Rocky. "What do I know?" handing him a card from USA Kilts . . . "I just MAKE the things!"
