Many of you knwo that I belong to The Ancient Order of Hibernians. This morning we had a Mass and breakfast in Albany and as a statewide officer I always support these things. I also wear my MacDonald Modern tank for these occassions. Of course all of these people have already seen me kilted and around the state my home division is known for our kiltedness. There were nothing but nice comments and the obligatory reference from the MC that I was still the only one kilted out of about 150 people.
Now for the convert: one fellow from our Troy division spends lots of time going around the state. He finally broke down and bought his first kilt last month. He was asking me all about the accessories - hoses and how to wear them, flashes, sporrans, belts, etc. The whole thing. I'm sending him a copy of So You Want to Wear A Kilt and printing out stuff from here on proper ettiquette. He's an older guy and will probably just wear it to some events but he seems genuinely excited to have the new kilt. He's not up to speed yet on all of the details but from his description it is a 5yd Black Watch that he bought from a local Irish shop. He'll be marching in the NYC St. Patrick's Day parade and we were trying to get him outfitted so he could wear it there.
He doesn't have a computer at home but I gave him this site anyway for when he goes to his son's house. It's just nice to add to the Rabble.
