Highland Wedding Kilts in USA Today
Today in the USA Today they had a article in the Life section about getting married in a kilt (the author calls them skirts most of the time).
Here is the link to the online version.

I think maybe the folks at Stillwater Kilts should have a word with the author. After all, they're in Minnesota...

From what I can tell, it has never crossed his mind to wear a kilt and is having a problem with some one else telling him he has to. Let's wait and see what he says after he has worn it.
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

MN kilts...
Methinks I'll pass this along to some of my contacts in the Minnesota Scottish community. I'm sure they'll have a reply to Mr. Wilson, especially since Minnesota has two tartans.

That's a good idea. I'd be curious to know what Craig Wilson thinks about kilt wearing after the wedding. I doubt that it will be in the USA Today, but you never know. I wonder if he will get hives or a rash. LOL

*Sigh.* You'd think a gay man would be more open to different ideas on how to dress or comport oneself. Please note: I don't care if Mr. Wilson is gay or not; it concerns me not the slightest. However, I find his closed-mindedness to be just as offensive as that of a Tennessee hillbilly from another forum who also cannot conceive of a man wearing "a sk*rt."

I was surprised by what he states he was told by the woman doing the fitting:
"said it was best for a novice not to "go regimental," as they call it. She mentioned something about hives and rashes and that we weren't used to such activity, let alone cut out for it."
Are these kilts made of wire wool?

Since Craig Wilson was kind enough to include his e-mail address in the article, I have invited him to visit X Marks the Scot. We might get a convert yet!

I think the lady that was doing the fitting has no clue about kilt wearing. Kind of makes me wonder if she is qualified to do the fitting. He should have gone to Stillwater Kilts and have one made to fit properly. Not sure how far he lives from Minneapolis though.

Shown up to a Scottish wedding in a Pakistani kilt? Not much realism in that!
But here's my take on the article: yawn. There was nothing eduational or insightful about it and he didn't relay anything about what he learned or appreciated about this new experience. He should have saved that article for his next family news letter.
