I'm sorry to hear about this. As others have said, take the time you can. Remember that we're all sending prayers and good wishes your way. Take care of her, man, and remember to take care of yourself too, because you are still needed.

There's nothing I can say to make it any easier, but my thoughts are with you.

Reading this strikes a strong emotional feeling with me and recent events I've gone through.

I don't know any words to make you feel better, other than a mother would have to be awfully proud of a son that can pipe loud enough to warn God that she is coming.

Life is short for all of us - and things can indeed change in a second. Two young women who are friends of my son were in a car accident the day before yesterday, and it was only through sheer luck that they escaped with scratches rather than a much worse outcome.

There are no magic words for the children, and I would agree that tears are the sign of a strong man in times like these. Keep her in your heart and multiply the love you have for her as you direct it toward those around you.

You, and your mother, are in our thoughts.

    Scott,

Our prayers are with you, your mother and your family. Feel free to lean on us as you need. While I haven't lost either of my parents yet, I saw Mom pass out sitting up at breakfast Thanksgiving '05. I sent Dad to call 911 while my wife and I laid her on the floor. Thankfully it was just a minor reaction to her medication but it didn't look like it at first.

    Peace

I lost my grandfather to cancer. Having lived with my grandparents this was quite a significant event. I know the pain you are feeling. Stay strong for your mother, and the rest of your family. This will make it easier for them, and when things get really tough, we here at X Marks will help you carry the burden of grief you have been handed.

Here in Boston, the fire dept in currently on a campaign to raise money for brain tumor research. Many members are being sponsored in their running of the marathon to raise money, and later this month we are having a fund raiser at the union hall. This issue has been raised because we have a captain who is suffering from this, as well as the 8 year old son of one of my class mates from the fire academy. Hopefully we can make a difference.

This is something no one should have to go through. It just proves how precious life really is. I'm truely sorry.
