Nah, don't stoop to her level.

The same holds true in Pennsylvania...and we're starving for new scenery.

    Ron,

I'm pulling for you unconditionally, i.e. as much as some will disagree I know how you feel about wearing kilts and I personally feel you should stick to your guns. Offering legal advice is a no-no here at Xmarks so I will simply say this: Protect yourself and your convictions.

This quote is from the book "Bugles and a Tiger", by John Masters.

It was actually a quote from John Masters' Bugles and a Tiger; a piece of advice given to young Masters as to which regiment he should join. He eventually joined a Gurkha regiment.

Ron, let me add my wee voice to the chorus of support on this.

Why is it that "new supervisors" feel the best way to assert their authority is to start changing things around?

At my old precinct we knew that every time we got a new lieutenant, he'd start messing with squad assignments. No reason, just showing he could do it. One Lt. even went so far to take down the photos of squads past, just because he personally didn't like the look.

After about a month, things settled back down and went back the way they were.

I hope that's the case with you. Hopefully this b**** will get over herself soon. In the meantime, it sounds like you are doing the right thing (not that there was ever any doubt with you!) Keep upper managment informed about this and the other changes you alluded to. Hopefully they'll pull the reins soon.

The heart of the matter is: Does she want to have you as an employee as you are or would she like to get rid of you. Its really that simple. Its not an issue of clothing. Clothing only becomes an issue when it detracts from the utility of an employee, the image of a organization or creates legal or social problems (such as wearing hot pants to represent the organization in talks with a religious leader or at place of worship). From what I've gathered your job consists counseling youth with social and drug dependency problems? The kilt can be a tool. Ever hear of "The Scary Guy"?

Do they need you? Do you have any other options of employment? To what extent (financial, emotional or some kind of regional binding to keep you in the community) do you need that job? What damage would be created should you tender a resignation?

Are Knickers Pants? You allready have over the knee socks and a driving cap.
    Where is my #1 Driver??

    Just a idea.

    Doctor shall we play thru?

As stated above do you know the people you are meeting? In a Town of 7000 I will bet you know a lot of them and most of them have seen you around town. My bet is a lot of them will want to know why you are attending a get togeather dress like (slacks). By the way do you own any that fit?
I still feel that Precedents still has some thing to do with the situation. She thinks you are an easy target to get all the others in line, as you mentioned about their clothing attire. Have a sit down with her and her boss about the issue and realize if her boss has not had a problem with you and the kilt you do have an edge. The other suggestion about you getting involved with the dress code writting is important or will she write it all by herself.

    MrBill

    PS have you calmed down??
