I really like this brown leather tool belt that I bought at Lowe's.

Here's an inexpensive brown day sporran on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/British-Scottish...QQcmdZViewItem

(Oh, and how is Graf these days? Haven't been there since Feb '86.)
Fearnest, any time you want it! Just send me a PM. I'm asking $80, including shipping.
BTW, you would not recognize Grafenwoehr Main Post any more. New construction everywhere. New PX opens this summer.

ok, Im a bit of an artist and want to learn how to and do everything myself. So that being said, what type of leather goes into a fine sporran like A Hays!? and where do I find it, and the supplies to make that sort of thing? Id love to be able to make my own leather wear. thanks guys

Your work looks incredible. Very nice indeed! I love the antique finish. I really admire the simple design. I may contact you in the near future.
For those of you who have Cavscouts chestnut colored belt, is the color and finish close?

I have Cavscout's Chestnut Belt. It is a fine product but the Chestnut has a bit of red in it to my eye. The antique brown stain I use has no red. I think Cavscout has a brown belt that might go better.
I use Tandy Super Sheen to finish and seal the leather. It seems to create a depth and luster suitable to the antique well-worn look. My Chestnut belt is more of a matt finish. I have a cordovan leather colored sporran that goes with the Chestnut belt, but I purchased it.

I guess that was a bit open ended on my part. As A_Hay answered, I was referring to how well the color of Cavscout's belts would match with the antique finish of A_Hay's sporrans.

The leather colors I'm carrying cover the spectrum pretty well. Black is black so not a lot of clarification needed there. Chestnut does have a reddish tint to it. Tan has a bit more orange in it much like the Tan Kiwi Shoe Polish. Brown is a deep chocolate brown.
I've provided belts for a few customers who are hoping to match a sporran or some other leather accessory and each has reported that they match pretty well. One of these has been Tom' sporran.
One option that Tom and I have considered was Me sending him the raw belt to be finished to match the sporran. I don't think I'm speaking out of turn if I say that it is something Tom and I will do if you want. It does incur extra postage for sending the leather back and forth.

Cavscout is correct, we would do our best to ensure that the dye/stain matches. Two pieces of leather from different hides may take the same brown dye or stain differently, however. Black seems pretty uniform.
