I'm a little surprised about this CEO meeting.
She has said you can wear a kilt and you have decided not to Ron.
Is there some subtle psychology behind both decisions? Although you state that it is to do with unrelated conflicts, this is also an area of conflict. Did she give the OK to try and keep this particular conflict out of sight and have you chosen pants hoping that the the CEO will inquire why you are in pants when they are probably used to seeing you in a kilt?

Ron,
Good Job!
Sounds like things went well. Hopefully the CEO will wonder aloud why you are wearing no kilt as well. It's stressful times like this that show you who you friends really are...interesting isn't it?

Ron,
I'm most sorry to hear about these developments. I know that in the end you will make the decision that works best for you. The fact that you are a valued employee that management does not want to loose may ultimately have some bearing on the final draft of the dress code.
Here, again, we have a double standard based on narrow minded, preconceived notions.

Thanks for the support guys.
The decision to wear pants again today is mine. Partly because the choice is mine. Mostly to avoid losing focus on the non-kilt related issues which are core.
Just trusting the process today, too emotionally drained to do otherwise.

Good luck Ron!
I really think you handle it very well....I just hope "they" will do the same in the near future.
Take care!

It sounds like rationality is winning out so far. Here's hoping for a good final outcome.
