Nah, don't make it 5 3/4, but 5 1/2, sure. That will result in your waistband being a little bit thicker because more material will overlap up in the tapers/fell, but then that might be worth it for the deeper pleats.

My Goodness this is a long thread if you don't stay current ...
However I found the answer to my box pleats question after looking at my girl Red's tartan fabric last night (right after shoving all her stuff off the dining room table ... ). NOW I get it ... maybe.
I'm gonna see if I can get a few yards of Cali from James.
