Zzyzx road in California. It leads to Zzyzx Springs, which has a pretty interesting story in itself.

You are standing at the end of a road before a small brick building. Around you is a forest. A small stream flows out of the building and down a gully.

Ahhh good old Zzyzx. I remember watching for that road sign with my dad on our yearly family road trips out west. It was always one of the days highlights. Really.
What's the intersting story?

Ah, one of my fave milestones on the road between Barstow and Vegas...
I live just down the street from "NASCAR Drive" and "Puppy Drum Court."

A wiki link was posted earlier, but I'll summarize.
Basically, Zzyzx Springs was founded by an eccentric religious fundamentalist health nut. He squatted some government land and buildings, built more buildings, and charged his followers to come out and eat all natural foods, stay in spartan rooms, and undergo various 'treatments'. He eventually lost the land (he never owned it, he just sort of 'claimed' it) but the Springs are still there, and now the land is administered by the UC system I believe.
