Tartan Trews

I was reading threw Ron's thread about the whole dress code thing and I noticed trews were mentioned by a couple posters. It got me thinking, (oh no! I shouldn't be doing that!) that I would wear a pair of trews if I had them. Not all the time of course, but for a special occasion once in a while. If I were in the market to get a pair where would I find them at? I noticed Kilt Store has them. But is there any place that makes decent trews at a more affordable price? thanks guys

Sometimes Orvis will sell tartan trousers (not technically trews) for around $100 USD. I've also seen trousers in Government Sett (Black Watch) from Polo. Brooks Brothers might be another possibility.

I love trews myself; someday I'll get a pair in the Argyll District/Campbell of Cawdor tartan. They are a great alternative to the kilt for formal functions.

Orvis has a sale on their tartan trousers right now, a pretty decent price if anyones intrested. They only have 4 tartans though. Royal Stewart, Buchanan, Black Watch, and a "Sage" tartan. Theyre like $56 plus shipping. Id get a pair, but I'd really like a pair in my clan tartan

Probably safer to go for a subdued tartan such as Black Watch. IMHO loud tartan trousers look ridiculous and suggest the wearer is an attention seeker who doesn't have the balls to wear a kilt. Not wanting to sound controversial. That's just my personal opinion as a regular wearer of subdued kilts and occasional wearer of loud kilts, so if anybody chooses to wear garish tartan trousers it is not my place to approach them and criticise them for their choice of clothing. I just think a black kilt and hose looks a lot more appropriate in the workplace than bright red checked trousers.

I think that's a pretty unfair comment to make about someone. I know several individuals who have "loud" tartans and wear both trews and kilts. Personally, I can see some "loud" tartan trews with formal wear looking natty.

I have a bright red loudish tartan which I wear proudly. I wear my kilt, and I would wear trews in it if I had them and really don't care if they offend someones delicate sensibilities. Has nothing to do with getting attention. Its my tartan

I quite like the look of trews, but I'll have to say that I do prefer the more subdues tartans for that. But, that's just personal preference and to each his own.

I will get a pair one of these days.
