The shawl collar (in the US) has been more traditional for tuxedos, I think - at least going back to the 50s and 60s... but I think the notch collar is more prevalent now.

Having said that, I don't think I've ever seen a PC with a shawl collar.

I always associate the shawl collar with a white jacket...lots of those pastel jackets from the sixties had them as well but we will not speak of pastels...

The My Own Tuxedos has an "After Six, Navy, Full Dress Tailcoat, 6 Button Shawl Collar". I like the softer look of the shawl collar. Maybe its too many hard edges and points at work.

I was talking to Rocky last weekend and he was talking about the Pink Cunningham Tartan. I thinking a nice cream or pale pink PC would go nicely with this tartan

You're right, the PC dosen't have a shawl collar but the Irish Brian Boru jacket does.
