"I have been been working very hard to control my temper... And I know I should feel bad about letting this slip."
I wouldn't feel bad in the least. It's just returning the favour in kind. People like that ask for it.

Asking for it or not, I have come to the conclusion that I should at least make the attempt to turn the other cheek... And I am having a hell of a time doing that.
I am not picking fights any more with anybody that looks at me sideways, but it seems the steam builds up and is relieved in other ways.
I did it at the last kilt night too. With out going in to details, I came very, very close to dragging somebody outside. And I'll leave it at that. Overly protective of my wife at the time, homicidal urges very, very difficult to control.
It is so very easy to bring harm to another when they slight you, so very difficult to bless those that curse you. I... I am not a strong enough man to do so. I want to be, but weakness manifests.

Dread, you've already shown yourself to be a good man by feeling regret. Just keep up the struggle and do better next time.

Don't lose any sleep over this, Dread. I'm almost 44 and I still have a hard time controlling my responses to idiots who want to taunt me in one form or another. Even while driving my bus I can be very sarcastic to deserving souls. It's a cross I have to bear, and I don't lose sleep over it. You shouldn't beat yourself up over it either.

Heck Dread, if ye ask me, that was the perfect response. The best way to get back at someone is to parry words and beat them with wit. I'd have been proud to have a quick comeback like that!
