Kilt Day Tomorrow!!!
Ok Gents!! Here I go tomorrow, for my first kilted outing. I will be an usher at church tomorrow and I just got the rest of the bits to the outfit tonight. I can't wait. I go to a Lutheran church and I'm sure I will turn a few German heads. The only thing I regret is not having the proper jacket to wear. I'll just have to make due with a white dress shirt and a tie to go with the Blackwatch and green kilt hose. I put everything on and, I must say, I looked quite dashing. My "Not So Proud Of Ancestory" wife even said I looked good. I will check in tomorrow to let you know how it went. Wish me luck.

Congratulations Patrick - I'm sure you'll look great and that many folks will tell you so - just be sure to stand tall, walk straight, and look everyone in the eye. Hey smile - you wearing a kilt!

You'll be surprised how well you're accepted. Stand tall.
I know there are a bunch of various factions of the Lutheran church, but if my memory is accurate (hah!) most seem to value diversity.
Can't recall what part of the world you're from, but you just might find some other members of the congregation who have dusty kilts in their closet who would welcome a chance to wear their's to church with you.

I went kilted to church last weekend. As I thought, it went well. My wife was nervous, but all I got were compliments. I think you will enjoy...have fun.

Today was absolutely great!! I wore the Blackwatch acrylic to church with a white dress shirt, green socks with red flashes, me new ghillie brogues, and the belt and sporran I finally got yesterday. My wife was not quite sure about me wearing it but the response from my friends and everyone at church was great. They loved it. I got the usual questions and a few sideways glances from some of the the "Old Battle Axes" but that was expected. Even the little kids thought it COOL that I wore it. I got alot of the "Is this a special occasion" questions and my answer was...."Absolutely, this is my first day of realizing that I could publically display my heritage by wearing a kilt". No questions after that. I'm going to try adding a pic so here it goes....
Thanks
Patrick the Proud!!

It looks great Patrick. I particulary am a fan of the red flashes with darker tartans that have no red in them. Smashing.
Congrats.
