    Don't Grab Hamish!!!!!!!

I saw this on the side of a vendor's trailer at the highland games in Mint Hill, NC today. I thought folks here would get a kick out of it.

According to the owner, a buddy of his took both photos at a small farm in Scotland. I can't imagine why anyone would grab Hamish by the horns, but apparently it happened with such regularity that the farmer had to post the sign on a fencepost near the road.

Hamish the hairy coo is a popular roadside attraction on the Highlands bus tour circuit. He knows he'll get carrots and apples when a bus arrives and saunters over to the fence to get a treat. One woman I saw didn't heed the sign and came close to getting knocked over when he swung his head back and forth.

Excellent! Now we have the full story!

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't stand that close, sign or no sign. That is some wicked-looking headgear!

Al, I thank you for your restraint!

Actually, if I had a £1.00 for every card and photo depicting that Hamish that have been sent to me, I would be able to afford another fine kilt! I must go and visit the old ------ one of these days!! Does anyone know precisely where he is?

I did a google search and found this:

    http://www.macbackpackers.com/jumpon.html

Leg Six - On departure from Fort William we do not have long before we stop again, this time at the amazing Glen Coe. Famous for the Massacre of 1692, this glen and it's towering mountains is a place of exquisite beauty. We will stop for lunch before heading south towards the Lowlands and Hamish the Hairy coo. But this is not the last stop. We wind up our amazing tour through the Highlands with some time at Stirling and the chance to get the real history behind William Wallace and the Wars of Independence. Then it's back to the Capital for a well earned pint.

    Arrive Edinburgh 5.00pm.

    *Laughs*
It seems that there are only two names for male Highland cows, Hamish and Angus. And I actually kinda like it that way.
    Nice find.
    P.S.
They usually calm down a lot of you stroke their neck, but not the top of the head.

That's one great beastie! Reminds me of a Brahma bull we had when I was growing up. His name was Cicero, big and mean looking but he was a sweetie. Loved to have his neck and ears scratched. Never hurt anyone but would knock you down leaning against you when he wanted attention. I like how he has pushed the fence posts over in the mud leaning over to get his treats! That Coo has it made!!
