Actually a well fitting and tailored sport coat is more complicated than a kilt.

Please see my posts in the Freedom Kilts section about the jacket I am working on. I too want exactly what you guys are asking for. No epalletes no silver buttons, no scalloped pocket flaps or big monster cuff details. Just a good quality sport coat. but cut for a kilt.

and BTW a "Wallace Jacket" has scalloped pocket flaps and big cuffs. I have one. Really nice jacket but not what I thought I was ordering.

If you were to break down and buy overseas, don't think there's a more trusted tailor than Geoffrey (Tailor). They offer a wide assortment of kilt jackets in stock sizes or made to measure in a wide assortment of materials.

Graham most definitely got what was pictured. It was what made up my mind about ordering one.

I unfortunately ended up with just a plain tweed argyle with imitation horn buttons. I like it and wear it often to work, but I'd much rather have what was pictured. I do, however, have to lose some weight so the waistcoat doesn't look like it's bursting. The garment is the right size, but I've grown a bit in the middle!

I third, fourth, or whatever with the idea of having something like this made in the US or Canada for an affordable price...and it doesn't even have to be tweed or even wool!

Sounds like a big mistake for a company to offer a pic of a product, and then replace it with something else.

I hope someone in the US is taking notes, and prepared to make some money.

The above mentioned kilt jacket and vest is in demand, and even the maker isn't making them.

Scottishkilts.net owes some people an explanation.

I'd love to hear it on this forum.

As a customer of theirs, I have always gotten an explaination........when I have asked for it. I have had good and bad experiences with that company, but I will still always look to them as one of my first sources of highland wear. I don't see the need to have an explanation issued on a web forum. If you have questions, email them. They seem to be good at replying these days.

I may not have gotten exactly what I saw on the website, but how many other kilt firms are running pictures of stock photos found on the internet? Scottishkilts has the jackets made by another source, so they may also be at the mercy of what gets delivered to them. The pattern may also be base don size. No offense to Graham, but I am quite a bit taller and wider, so maybe the paramaters of the jacket shown are for the smaller sizes. I don't know. My point is, that a lot is not almost all kilt firms on the internet are using stock photos of products that are not actually the product they make.

To view firms that show their own products you have to visit sites like Rocky's and Steve's as they are the makers not just the online retailer. Otherwise we just can't believe what is being presented on blind faith. I have always found that companies ar emore than happy to answer any questions you may have if they are contacted.

I completely concur with your statements.

I very much like what they have in the picture, and that is what I'd like to order.

Ideally, from someone here in the USA. I just like to spend my money close to home whenever I can.

However, when I order one thing, and get something else, I send it back until I get what I ordered.

Now if only I could order what I want..and be reasonably sure I'd get it! Agh!
