    Just got a package...

from Franklin, NC: the hose and garters look great! Thanks to Matt for "hooking us up" with this new line, and Ronan for helping out with the color selection. I think the claret red hose he sent will work just fine w/ my Williams cilt.

Bryan...looking forward to trying them out soon...

You gotta be talkin' about the Lewis hose...? I have a bundle on the way too. When it arrives I'll have two pair each of five colors. Expensive, but a nice look.

Working 10 and 12 hour days; changing kilt hose at lunch is a little treat for myself. Think it also extends the life/value of the hose.

I'm still hand washing my Lewis hose. Anyone tried them in a washing machine?

I've got two pair of black that I machine wash weekly. Cold water wash on normal cycle and air dry and haven't had a bit of problem with stretching, shrinking, or pilling yet.

    I love Lewis hose!

    Bryan,

Glad you like the hose (and Ron, and Harlan, too!). For those wondering what the fuss is about:

Yup, that's them, Ron: I think I'm going to have to order another few pairs in other colors I wear after seeing these-lovat green and charcoal, I think.

    Bryan...and maybe navy...

Mine arrived today. The tartan red (to go with my loud MacLeod when it arrives), brown, and purple. Already had the ancient blue and navy.

Not sure what the attraction is for me...know its the thick decorative hose top...and a bit of the less itchy feel...and the foot is shaped rather than forcing the material to stretch around my heel...bunch of stuff...

Thanks for the reassurance H. Hastings...I'm just leary of the washer because of shrinking and felting wool hose on gentle cycle...

    Ron,

What causes wool to shrink and/or felt like that is a combination of heat and agitation. If you wash them on the gentle cycle in cold water, you take the heat out of the equation and shouldn't have any problems.

That being said, if you are ok with hand washing, that is certainly a safe way to go and you definitely won't have any problems!
