Raphael,
I used to go once a week to men's yoga after work, with my then boss, and his boss who was Chief Executive of the organisation and was a great believer that yoga was a good stressbuster and bonding exercise for senior managers - though we usually undid all the good by going to the pub afterwards and drinking too much alcohol. The numbers fell away until eventually the teacher abandoned the class and invited us to join with the ladies class which none of us did. I didn't smoke. I was too fond of alcohol, and tried several unsuccessful methods to cut down or quit before I eventually found hypnotherapy worked for me. The Allen Carr clinic is mainly for quitting smoking but they also run alcohol sessions in some of the larger cities. I only needed two single day sessions. Best of luck.
Dreadbelly,
I very nearly lost it today because of some idiot making a skirt comment.
Been there, done that, got the Tee-shirt. Now that I also wear non-traditional non tartan kilts as well as 8-yard tartans it doesn't bother me any more. OK so what if its a skirt, it's a man's skirt. The guy making the comment is usually wearing girls' or unisex jeans.

What is this relaxation you speak of?
I like to spend time sitting around a campfire in the backyard with my neighbors and a pint of Guinness to really unwind.
For a good stress reliever I get on my Kawasaki and go for a spin. It's amazing what 15 minutes of motorcycle hooliganism on the back roads in the middle of nowhere can do for me.
Rugby works for getting rid of aggression. Getting a bit worn out from playing though, I've been thinking something in the form of martial arts. Keep me in shape and help with flexibility in my old age.

I go up to Kings Mtn once a month and let people wack me with sticks while I try to hit them with bean bags.
Its a fantasy larp. I get to play pretend and dress up like I did when I was a kid. Great for stress... and I know a couple of orcs that will wack you extra if you feel you need it. *JK*

Reading, napping, playing my recorder-flute (I'm terrible, but it relaxes ME).

Howdy and best of luck in the search for all types of 'peace' -
I do carving. Specifically, a form of celtic design with good old hammer and chisel which results in the design being 'in relief' - if that makes any sense. Soft wood, a good sharp chisel, and the flowing and intertwining lines of the ancient picts and celts. The planning of it, the design, transferring design to wood, cutting in the outline, then chiseling - each has its own reward and requires a calm kind of focus. Not for everyone but it's pretty cool stuff, and when you're done you have something unique and artistic. Right now I'm designing a frame for a large mirror which will have woven interlocking lines all around it.
Oh, and then there's the fiddle. Which I torture regularly, but only when alone in the house.
best,
db

hmm..
teaching children ( pretty much anything)
hiking (alone or with people)
reading Basho under a tree in the warm sun ( or in the shade if it is too hot where you are)
wading in a mountain lake or stream in the springtime (wear a UK, they won't get ruined)
and..( for the adrenaline junkies out there) doing anything that involves going really fast or exerting a whole lot of energy...all while kilted! ( kilted soccer outside is extremely relaxing)

I can 2nd that, only I use a roadster. I nice fun drive in the country, or anywhere without to much traffic, can do a world of good.
And a few laps on a track are great for calming myself down. Of course open race tracks are hard to come by.
