    Freedom Kilts or RKilts

I just received word that I have been bumped way down the list for my Maple Leaf tartan. So today I was daydreaming at work about getting another new kilt to suffice my jonesing. I've been working a lot of over time so I figure screw it I'm going to get a casual kilt. It seems all my fellow SOKS's are wearing new kilts, even my arch-nemisis Improv1 had a new Henderson, the b*****d! After his a couple of beams (I drive forklift) and one person (OK 3) I came to the realization that there are still two local (XMarks) kilt makers I have yet to purchase from. Freedom kilts and RKilts.

When I first started wanting a kilt I started looking at Freedom (before going the inexpensive route with Stillwater). I really liked the understated ellegance that Steve offers with clean and simple lines. Since jining XMarks i really started liking the idea of hemp and RKilts. After seeing Roberts kilt (leather though) up close I am impressed with his quality of workmanship and the seeming attitude that and RKilt projects with all the belts and buckles.

I torn do I get a dessert camo from Freedom Kilts or a black hemp from RKilts. I will most definately will eventually own both but which one first? To make matters worse The only kilt I currently have is a black Shadow tartan (Clan Destine) from SWK. So I have already a solid black kilt. I also score some digital camo fabric on ebay to make my camo kilt.

Help me please, black hemp or dessert camouflage?

I don't own an RKilt but I can say I am very pleased with my Freedom Cargo Kilt. Delivery was also very quick for a made to measure kilt.

I have just one question.....does "dessert camouflage"..... have anything to do with not being able to find your carton of ice cream in the freezer?

Is that a small container you hide your whisky in when you are in the desert?

Well, since you've already scored some camo to make your own: I would go with the opposite and get the black hemp. Not because of the vendor... I'm highly impressed with both of them.. but because of the material. Just my .02.

I have 2 FKs and I'm waiting on my first RK. I'd say go with whichever has a shorter lead time or flip a coin.

oddly enough i have a large amount of "Woodland" camo fabric
I'm currently using as a drape in the huge picture window in my bedroom.
there is a street light right outside,
it's too bright to sleep with the thin white blinds that came with the apartment.
so i wonder if a woodland camo kilt is in my future.
with my bad arm i don't think i could do this myself,
so i wonder if the fact i have the fabric might get me a deal somewhere.

10 reason you should buy an FK.

    1. Robert is too nice a guy to post here and tout his own fine kilts.
    2. Robert makes a far too nice a kilt for the likes of you.
    3. Robert needs to make my Hemp kilt first.
    4. Robert is going to be too busy because I just spoke to a man who wants kilts for his store and I gave him Roberts phone no.
    5. Hemp? What's that? don't they make rope and sandbags from that?
    6. Even Graham has a Hemp kilt. Don't you want something no one else has?
    7. Robert's one of those polite Canadians and would probably not argue with you when you want "non-standard".
    8. Spring is coming and Robert probably wants to ride his motorcycle and not make kilts.
    9. Tomorrow is Saturday and Robert probably won't be home to take your order.
10.I beg and grovel better than Robert.
