I've foung the holy grail of my family history! I found a scanned copy of the book one of my father's great aunt's wrote about my family!

Memoirs of the Leonard, Thompson, and Haskell Families - By Caroline Leonard Goodenough

no, it is a scanned book. Good news is I found a copy of the book for sale ( there were only 1000 printed, so I lucked out) and bought it. If you are hunting for specific names, let me know and I'll point you in the right direction if they are in this book.

I have a ton of various names I'm looking for. None dealing with those family names. I was just curious about searching and using the USIGS webpage in general.

ahh...hmmm..do some searches for the names you are looking for. Once you find some books that contain those names, you can then search the USIGS site for that particular book. I don't think it is indexed by content, just the names of the books.
