Still, Sean Connery in tight red hot pants is just not something that should ever have occured on this planet. I am suprised that theme didn't pop up in the dressed to kilt event in honour of Sir Connery :-)
Wait, wait, wait. First Zardoz, and now Killer Klowns (that's a great movie), next you'll be telling us that the Star Wars Prequel trillogy is bad too (oh wait, never mind).

Love the Star Wars 'prequels' ! I was 14 in 1977, so the wooden acting, episodic plotting and dialog with the cadence of typing sure took me back!

Ah but Zardoz, 1977 was the first of the "sequels" being Episode IV !
The "prequels came much later!

OK, I was not going to continue with the nature of this disscussion, but I don't need youngsters telling me about Star Wars!
By 'Prequels' I mean episodes I, II, and III, the newer ones, as it were. I am well aware that the first movie in 1977 was number IV, ( although the the "Episode IV A New Hope" title was actually only added in the 1981 re-release) . The "stagey settings, stiff acting, episodic plotting and dialog with the cadence of typing" I mention are in my opinion, a constant through all six films, and not a bad thing, a very endearing part of the 'feel' of the films, that is what took me back to my youth of 1977 as a watched Phantom Menace. So yes I really like I, II, and III as much as IV, V and VI, though I think III (Revenge of the Sith) is the strongest and best acted of the six.
I really love all the Star Wars films, new or old, and unlike many, I even really like the CGI enhanced "special editon" versions of IV,V,VI. I do not have a problem with Mr.Lucas tweaking his movies to suit his idea of the story or look of the product. Star Wars is one of the rare examples in American filmaking of big budget commercial films that are really one mans vision, not filtered though a studio corporation or focus group.
I will now return you to your regularly scheduled bad kilts thread!

The opening lines of Zardoz say it all, one of the most hysterically pretentious bad movies of its time:
I am Arthur Frayn, and I am Zardoz. I have lived 300 years, and long to die. But death is no longer possible, I am immortal. I present now my story - full of mystery and intrigue. Rich in irony, and most satirical. It is set deep within a possible future, so none of these events have yet occurred. But they may! Be warned, lest you end as I. In this tale I am a fake god by occupation, and a magician by inclination. Merlin is my hero! I am the puppet master. I manipulate many of the characters and events you will see. But I am invented too for your entertainment and amusement. And you, poor creatures, who conjured you out of the clay? Is God in show business too?

Best regards,
Jake

And now for the first time we bring to you the full story of what happened on the fateful day.
