I'm off for another little walk (2,800 miles)

In three weeks I set off for the Continental Divide Trail, a 2,800-mile "trail" along the Divide, the point in the United States at which water has to choose to flow either to the Atlantic or the Pacific. I use quotes around the word trail because this trail is largely incomplete, and will require maps and compass navigation. No two people who hike this trail hike it the same way.

Only 20-40 people set off to hike this each year, and when I finish I will be one of less than a hundred people to hike the "Triple Crown" - the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, and the Continental Divide Trail - around 8,000 miles in total.

I'm expecting this trip to take me about six months to complete.

Of course I will be hiking in a kilt, the same kilt that already has 5,000 backpacking miles on it.

    Andrew.

Outstanding! I have several friends that are AT through-hikers, and I have an immense amount of respect for you guys that put yourselves through that in the name of recreation. I dabble in orienteering and get worn out after 2 days on the course! LOL

You're an amazing man for undertaking these feats. Hope all goes well for you. Take lots of pictures to show us when you get back. Keep the sun in your face, the wind at your back and your kilt down.

We'll be keeping an eye on your blog Andrew. Good luck!

BTW, I've always wondered how you know which tree has internet access out there?

Have fun. After your 'walk,' you need to send your kilt to the museum.

I wonder if there is a "Most miles walked wearing a kilt" award?

If so, it sounds you you are a serious contender for it Andrew!

I got blisters and sore feet after 30 miles!
