Does anyone else see the irony in the welcome to a member that has been with us for over a year and a half?

Why the resurrection of all the old threads that are 1-2+ years old lately, guys?

So one fine day I booked off early and went in search of our local kiltmaker, one Mr. Bear. I didn't have his address on hand but I knew the neighborhood and what street he was on. I cruised the length of the street to no avail. His den is well hidden. Fortuitously, I stumbled across the Edinborough Tartan Shop.

Sorry to continue an old thread but I need to know where exactly are these two places? I've been looking for a kilt place in Vancouver and have not found one yet!

    PS: A very belated welcome!

    Nerts,

Edinburgh Tartan Shop was in Gastown, but I believe it is now closed.

House of Marclaren is still located in Gastown http://www.geocities.com/houseofmclaren/
    Tartantown is in Coquitlam www.tartantown.com

Stevenston, Vancouver and North Vancouver all have Irish shops (no kilts that I know of).

There are a number of kiltmakers locally.

Rob MacDonald www.westcoastkilts.com (Very Highly recommended by many people)
    Bear www.bearkilts.com (polyviscose and wool)
    David MacDonald www.canadakilt.com (acrylic)

There is also Tim McMahon, a kiltmaker fetured in the December Celtic Connection http://www.celtic-connection.com/fea...12_01_pro.html

Let's also not forget about the BC Highland Games in June www.bchighlandgames.com where Big Mikey and I are likely to be found wondering the beer garden, the vendors, or the whisky tasting

No problem, there are a ton of resources in BC and particularly in Vancouver and Victoria. If I can think of anymore I will PM you.

Last I had heard he was not taking any new orders and was in the kiltmaking business part time in an attempt to catch up. I hope the situation has improved since I last heard, as he is a good guy and a very detail oriented kiltmaker.

It depends on what kind of kilt you are looking for. Feel free to send a PM if you have any questions about the local kiltmakers.
