Small petpeave of mine: the South, as in the American South, aka Dear Ole Dixie, is capitalised...always. Thank you.

And Thanks for the heads up on Loch Norman. I think I'm gonna try and make the rounds this year, and I hear Loch Norman is a good one!

    Cheers,

Hmmmmm....was that an insult? LOLOL We'll see when you come knocking on my door to come in from the rain and the cold. LOL I do backcountry camping, I do primitive camping, I even do trailside camping, but for some reason I've never been able to abide campground camping.

Will we get to see Mrs. TH, madbagpiper and senor P on this trip?

All but the Mrs...she has to stay behind to attend a wedding.

No insult intended...quite the opposite as Master P is a bit of a weenie when it comes to camping in cold weather. Hopefully it will warm up a mite before the games! I know what you mean about campground camping, too. Seems I always find the spot closest to the generator / crying baby / barking dog / obnoxious know-it-all (yes..even here in the SOUTH).

OK...got our wrist bands and campsite confirmation in the mail today, so we're all set. I'll be at the archery range at 1:30 on Saturday. Other than that, I haven't a clue.

Well what do you say to meeting around 11:00 at the Clan Wallace tent?
I will have a chair camped out there. We can get a group photo.

Bill, will a cheering section bother you during your longbow competition?

I am also planning on attending one of the whisky seminars at
    either 3 or 4 pm.
Anyone who wants to attend just let me know.
    We can compare tasting notes.

    Sounds like a plan!

Not a bit! I shoot weekly at our archery club, and there is always a lot of good-humored ribbing and general foolishness. If it's too quiet, I get nervous.

Is there an admission fee for this?

Of course, if the weather doesn't improve this entire discussion is moot. Here's what I saw from my front door a few minutes ago.

I have seen it be from $10 to $20.
You can come and listen for free but to
sample you have to pay. There have been as few as 3
to taste and as many as 5. Although the
    3 were quite liberal drams.

The long range forecast is for sun and 70's but
with this crazy weather its anyone's guess.

Well, my schedule got screwed up. I won't be able to make it down for Saturday games due to a scheduled function that I can't miss. As soon as that's over though, I'll head to Charlotte and hopefully be around for the ceilidh on Saturday night and the Sunday games. Anybody still be there for Sunday?

i and my family will be there both days. typically my parents will have a tent set up in the historical section. they usually have a candling making demonstration going. i'm not sure if they will do that this year or not.

which day was the 11:00am meeting at the Wallace tent? it would be cool to do a Xmarks group photo.

some words of warning about camping at the Loch Norman Highland Games: if it rains you will get muddy (that's obvious i know), but the camping area is in a bowl shaped field; so it can get nasty easily, and vehicles have been known to get stuck in that area. ALSO there is poison ivy (or oak) in that area, so watch out! "leaves of three leave them be." it grows in the wooded area and at the edge, you will be safe if you stay in the grassy field.

i got tore up last year. i thought i was immune to that stuff, but your allergy to the urushiol oil increases with age.

    see ya at the games!!
