    I don't think they have ever been custom. Except the beer gut cut, they used to have a 1 or 2 inch option.

    I bought mine that way and that was . . . 6yrs ago or so.

    Okay, edited as I went out to the website. The sizing doesn't seem to be any different, but you are correct they are not taking orders, just filling sizes, I suspect they are attempting to hold items in all their sizes, since they are pushing retail and wholesale. But have not caught up to the big folk yet.

    I suppose that all depends on what you define as custom. I remember specifically at one point they offered order options such as length and beer gut cut so to me that's fairly custom and a salesmen I met at the Alma Highland games around that time period told me they did "a lot of made to order kilts" FWIW.

    is that you on that website?

Does anyone know if they will still take an custom order? I'll call them soon, but was just wondering if anyone here knew off hand.

    i was disappointed too with the new system. you enter your request online and just wait. and i waited. and since i didn't get any type of verification or confirmation, i called. when i called, i was told to use the online system. i said i had already. he said to just wait. ... and that was it.

    {shrug}

    i could have (perhaps should have) gone elsewhere. but what i ended up doing was tweaking the measurements until the model i wanted in the color i wanted showed up as available. (luckily for me i can wear a UK that is between 41" and 39", and in a length that is between their 'small' and 'medium'... AND i would take any color other than camo)

    oh and the model i was waiting on... they have yet to contact me. but perhaps their system detects orders from anyone to clear out the 'tell-them-it-is-here' list.

    {shrug} oh well.

    I'm having the same experience. When I ordered my first, they took the order, I assume they had it in inventory, and it arrived within about two weeks if I recall correctly.

    A few weeks ago, I wanted another, so I checked the website, only to find that the color/size combination is unavailable. I registered under the "Notify Me" button and waited a week or so. I know, not very long, but long enough when you're jonesing. So I called and got the same speech. "It's not available. We have to wait until the production facility makes that size in that color."

    So I'm still waiting.....

    I'm thinking I'll be looking elsewhere soon.

    You could always order a Freedom Kilt cargo model instead of a Utilikilt.

    Once upon a time UK made stock kilts to order. In other words, you told them what UK model and size, paid for it, and if it wasn't on hand you had to wait for them to make it. For some models, like the Survival, the website indicated that it would be several months from order to shipping. Since at least last summer, UK has stopped taking pre-orders and only sells what they physically have in stock. They say they hope to get their production up to the point that most things are actually in stock, but I guess that hasn't happened yet. I actually like their new web feature that lets you know right up front what is available, but it would be nice it there was more inventory.

    Best regards,

    Jake

    Yep. It was taken at the Loch Hartwell games last year. I was actually just trying that one on.
