Don't get me wrong, I was talking about males in general and wasn't necessarily refering to kilt wearing. I have no idea why but when males hit their early twenties they start this "I'm so very much tougher that the next guy" attitude, most grow out of it but some don't, they carry that attitude with them until they're grumpy little old men and feel that they have to challenge every other man over something as simple as what they're wearing, in this case the kilt.

You have to hold your head a little bit higher when you wear a kilt, if you do, people see your confidence and realize that you're "tough enough" to wear a kilt and look like there is nothing wrong, so you must be a tough guy. I look kinda scary with no hair and a decent build, but most of the time I'm smiling, so it doesn't matter.

These mixed up people can be found all over the world and generally these insults come from some poor, timid spirit who's showing a lot of false bravado who has never in his life been in a position where his mettle was tested and forged and at heart is just a girly-dude. More often than not their own clothing wears THEM and not the other way around.

The Supreme Canuck is absolutely correct in saying that these folks should just be laughed off and just walk away from them.

And as to what ccga3359 said about being knocked down and getting a sneak peek under the kilt, why then THAT is the time that you point and start laughing hysterically. If that doesn't take the wind out of your opponent's sails nothing will...LOL!

we're all on the same side, I know it's in fun.
Yeah, the Marines get to go to a lot of other services' schools because they don't have the numbers or a budget of their own.

To this day I don't get the pride in the "Airborne" distinction. When I went there were ROTC cadets and unit admins getting kicked out of a plane 5 times so that they could be called "Airborne". To me it was just jump school.

Must be something from back in the caveman days. Thinking they have to prove themselves as the dominant of the clan.

I agree, although I think it hits others at different times in their lives. I remember getting picked on a lot until about 9th or 10th grade and it was by the same guys. Fought back once and they left me alone, but they turned out to be much more bark than bite. And looking back....what you said is true, they were nothing worth being afraid of... Memories. I wonder if they're secure enough with their late 30's to wear a kilt?
