Our banks have dress-down days throughout the summer. Perhaps a kilt would be ok then?

Not to be the trouble stirrer, but how is a kilt not formal enough for a bank?
Is there a formal dress code outlawing them?
By the way I'm researching the effect/affect of dress codes and the civil rights act on kilt wearing for an college English research paper.

yes we have "casual Fridays" and could not get them apporved even for that. I think its the fact that its not mainstream and could cause a distraction, or its the hairy legs.

If you want to wear it at work, you should get to know your company dress code the "ban" may be just a prejudice of someone at your branch and not company policy.
Just a thought

That objection is easily met by wearing knee hose. Much as I like wearing casual kilts and scrunched down hose in my free time, I always wear a formal kilt and knee hose to work.

Some of these "casual fridays" are amazingly tight in their interpretation but checking with head office wouldn't go amiss.

Thanks for the ideas guys, but the 2 people i talked to were on the dress code committe. The only positive response was, "if you want to wear that then you have to follow the policy on skirts, you must wear pantyhose." to which i said well what about kilt hose? then he just laughed and walked off.
i may be changing jobs in a year or so, and then it won't be an issue, as i could wear what ever i want.

That was a ludicrous response to give you and he knew it by walking off laughing, unable to give you an intelligent response.

What the *$&#
Man I hate people like that, I still say look up the documentation for yourself.
He/She might not talk for the company on this see if you can find the Official Dress Code, print it and keep it with you.
The other thing if you go this route dress up your kilt, and make sure you look sharp, just my 2 cents, now I think I've beat this horse enough.
