Actually, the pictures were taken in May, when you can almost see the weeds in Southwest Colorado growing if you stare long enough. This and a few of the other surviving Geese (all but one, Motor #1, still survive) still function, and do a special run between Durango and Silverton at least once a year. I do believe that all of the Geese were gasoline (petrol) powered. This is Goose #5, built out of Pierce-Arrow parts.

Nope, Ridgway, Colorado (No "e"). Pretty much a collection of gas stations and convenience stores about halfway between Durango and Grand Junction on US 550. But that Railroad museum is way cool. They have the reproduction of Motor #1, and lots of the old cars from the Rio Grande Southern.
