Oh and a tip...just south of Loch Lomond is Helensburgh...it's worth visiting the "Hill House" from Charles Rennie Mackintosh there.

    from the Scottish Borders.

You will love the scenery around Loch Lomond.

The Union Canal runs through the central lowlands with few scenic photo locations, though the Almond and Avon aqueducts offer good views from the boat or towpath, and there are also a couple of interesting tunnels. The modern boat wheel at Falkirk is very impressive. The cafe there serves good food but suffers from not enough seats though if you are hiring a boat you would be able to eat the food in the privacy of your boat. Please have a look at the Union Canal album on my website.

Will you be able to join some of us at the Scottish x-markers meet at the Scottish Pipe Band Championships in Dumbarton on Saturday 19th May? Dumbarton is only a few miles from Loch Lomond.

P1M: I've looked over ALL the pics in your thread (s) many times, great compilation.
Cessna152Towser: Unfortunately we leave Scotland on the 18th of May so won't be able to make it to the Pipe Band Championships. Next time perhaps.

    Later,
    Mo
