Livermore, CA Games May 19-20
http://www.livermoregames.com/index.html
I know Alan H. said he was planning to compete at these games. I see that they have the amateurs schedule divided with the Men's A & C plus Masters 40-49 on Saturday and Men's B, Women A & B, Masters 50-59 and Masters 60 plus on Sunday.
Alan, which day is you, and who else is planning to attend?
Best regards,
Jake

I'm throwing on Saturday in Men's C (Novice division).
The MacNaughton tent will not be at Livermore, though Gene will be in attendance as He's the president of the Saint Andrews Society of San Francisco. So we need to find an alternative "central location"!
The Luminous Joan will be there, along with her parents and a girlfriend from dance class. Joan will likely need cardiac support when she sees me with a caber! I've also invited my cousins, who have Hall ancestors, just like I do. So I'll be supplementing the rabble with friends and family this time. I'll be there early, like 8:45, since we start throwing at 9:30.

I'm planning on attending, at least Saturday. I'll dig out my cheap shade tent (and see if it still stands up) and toss in a couple of chairs, too. Livermore must have a place to set such a thing up somewhere by the athletic field. It's fun to play these things by ear until we cover all the venues here in the valley.

I am STOKED... Yesterday after work I went out to the Intramural field even though my sore throat was raging and tried linking up two spins in the 28 pound weight for distance. I'd managed to do it on the beach with Piper George on Saturday, with 20 pounds...could I do it with 28?
It was starting to get dark, so I couldn't judge distances very well. I loaded up the gear with 20 pounds, just to try it out again and surprised myself throwing the thing into the tree branches, a good 50 feet away! Yeee-Haw!
So after backing up a bit and doing 2 more at 20 pounds, I loaded up 28 pounds and cranked one off.....36 feet! That's a 3 foot improvement over my single-spin result at Woodland. After doing a couple more I seriously cut loose on one and I'm pretty sure I cracked 40 feet. Look at it this way, it's getting really hard to hold on to the thing, I'm getting so much torque on it, halfway through the second spin.
OOooooooh, yeah! Can't WAIT for Livermore, now!!
Three months ago I couldn't see how I was EVER going to throw this thing. I'm jazzed.

livermore is a nice event. i've always enjoyed it - even when it was raining and blowing tents over. my wife and i will be there this year too. in the reenactors camp as usual. we're with the clann fraser guild and i'll have a "ross" banner made from leather hanging on the tent. y'all stop by and see us. it would be nice to have faces to go with the names.
btw, a friend of mine named jack magee will be competing. he's an old fart but gives folks a run for their money. if you run in to him tell him i bragged on him.
