Holy Crap!!
As i posted before, I got my first kilt, a McQuarrie "The Works" SportKilt last week, BUT received my semi-tradtional USAKilt in Menzies tartan. WOW WOW WOW is all i can say. It is incredible quality, has a phenomenal "swing" and fullness and looks terrific on. I of course screwed up with my measuring - it's a little tight, so to wear it comfortably I have to place it in the last holes - Uggghhhhh! NOT Rocky's fault, he tried to warn me, but I just couldn't get past the measurement that the "tape" was showing. To me there was no way I was that fat!!!!! DAMNIT DAMNIT DAMNIT! Oh well, it's incredibly beautiful, and hopefully people wont notice that I'm on the last "notches! I'll post pictures later today. I already want to order another one today! What tartan do you recommend as a daily wear that is pretty versatile? I want to get MacDonald (on the USAKilts website), but it's alot of red and green and not that versatile i dont think. I was thinking "Cladish" or "Thomson Camel," so I can have a brown one ( I wear alot of browns shirts for some reason!).. Thoughts? Anyone got any pics of members wearing one or both of those so I can get an idea of what an entire kilt would look like versus just one of those popup swatches??

Try looking at Riverkilts' gallery. he has a bundle of USAKs. And Congratulations on your first traditional style kilt. How do you like it compared to your SK?

Congrats on the USA Kilt, I hope you love it.

Be forewarned there is a problem with USAKilts.
You can only wear one at a time and trying to decide which one can be almost as bad as the jones. Though much the same can be said about all the kilt makers on this forum.

Congrats on the new kilt. Do not fret too much. Now that you have an incentive the weight will come off . "Honey, does this kilt make my butt look big?"

Awesome! I don't have anything from Sportkilt, I know there is a world of difference. I love my USA Kilts. As far as "versatile" I don't think the MacDonald is as flashy and bright etc as you may think. That swatch on the USAK site does make it look awfully bright and awfully red. I almost had one from Rocky, but he found a discrepancy in the bolt of fabric so I opted for another tartan. Don't forget he also has those solid colors that are available in semi-traditionals. Irish Saffron is versatile (IMO.) We're probably not helping any... certainly making it harder. But, whatever you choose, you can't go wrong with. Oh, and DON'T ARGUE WITH THE MEASURING TAPE!! It will always win in the end.

Rocky and Kelly's kilts are first class all the way - congratulations! Sadly one of the first lessons for any kilt wearer is... The Tape Never Lies!
