Sgian (?) #3
Thought I'd try something different! A bit more work profiling & sharpening the blade, & it's finished. The hilt is Tasmanian Blackwood, acrylic bolster & end cap.
Still debating putting the file notches in the back of the blade... opinions?

That looks awesome. You are truly a craftman. Did you pour the end caps or just shape blocks of the acrylic? The blade shape is very unusual. In my opinion, it would look cool with an edge all the way around. Giving it a dagger like quality. What are you doing for a sheath?

I say skip the notches, unless the blade is going to be filed down to a traditional shape. Make it bladed on both sides, that way it looks like a spear head.

I vote for the dagger option, too. My one-and-only sgian is a dagger, BTW

Very unique. While the blade just doesn't appeal to me, I absolutely LOVE the handle. That is NIIIIIICE.

I will echo the rest, skip the notches, and make it double edged.

I absolutely love the handle and your crafsmanship is first rate - but for a traditionalist like me the blade shape reminds me too much of a cake knife - sorry that's just me...

I'm a traditionalist myself, & it kind of went against the grain the whole time I was working on it. However, that one's for the brother-in-law, who has a thing for leaf-blades & spears in particular. That was the result. He wants notches, so I'm going with thin ones, angled back so it's more like barbs. The endcaps are shaped from blocks, & I'm going with a plain leather sheath.
The next (traditional!) one has been started.
