I don't know why, but the title of this thread just kept making me think of the old song "The Devil went down to Georgia"...

Turpin was back in Memphis, he was looking for some scotch drink
He was in a bind 'cause the ladies were waiting in line to give him a smile and wink

When he came across a man standing there without a care, watching with a smirk
And Turpin was glad to see another Buchanan clad, and said “you must be Dirk!”

“I guess you didn't know it, but I'm an X Marker too
And it’s not fair to not share these lovely ladies' company with you.”

“Now you drink pretty good drink boy, but give old Turpin his due,
I'll bet a dram of gold, if I may be so bold, that I can hold my brew better than you”

Dirk said, "My names Dirk Skene friend, though I fear for my liver
"But I'll take your bet - your gonna regret 'cause I can drink me a river!“

Dirk Skene get your pint, give your toast, and sip your beer
'Cause hell's broke loose in Memphis now that Turpin is here.
And if you win you'll get a fine dram of scotch gold, but if you lose to Turpin who will get scold?

Turpin walked to the bar, and he said "I'll start this show,"
And mug flew to his finger and as he drank he took on a glow.

And as he drank his brew, he would wipe his mouth with a look of pure bliss,
Then a band of young ladies cheered him on and each gave him a kiss.

When Turpin finished Dirk Skene said, "Well, you're pretty good ol' son,
"But set right in that chair right there and let me show you how it's done!"

Turpin bowed his head, 'cause he knew that he'd been beat,
And he ordered up for for Dirk Skene a dram of scotch neat

Dirk said, "Turpin just come on back if you ever want to try again,
"I done told you once you son of a gun I'm the best there's ever been!

    And the two sang
