Turpin, is that a new Thorfinn flap I see there?

You know, I had a hard time picking Dirk and myself out in that picture too. Although it may be because I was blinded by the flash in the previous picture reflecting off the shinies on my Keens. Great shoes, but I need to find them in a more subdued version.

And, why yes, Kevin, that is a Thorfinn flap that I think goes quite well with the Buchanan tartan, or any other red one for that matter, if one doesn't have a tartan swatch to make a matching flap. How observant of you to notice with all the pulchritude on display. Miss Cassidi really lights up a room.

As much as Turpin travels the world in a Kilt, pretty soon Turpin is going to redefine "The question" from "What are you wearing under the kilt", to "Do you know Turpin?" He's on a one man crusade to promote Kilting. Way to go boys!

Shucks, Steve, I just go where my job takes me and wear what I wear for everyday business. Can I help it if there are lots of nice, like-minded people all over the world? Someone should get up an online venue so they can all interact and plan such get-togethers.

I suspect it's a simple matter of fabric and kiltmaker difference. Dirk's looks to be a sportkilt (if I am not mistaken), where as Turpin's kilt appears to have a tighter weave and I suspect wool or PV. Correct me if I am wrong lads....

Correct, Colin. Dirk's is the SK poly-cotton. Mine is a 13-oz wool I bought on ebay, surplus of the Sierra Highlanders Pipe Band. It's old, soft, and wonderfully comfortable. no makers label, but the seller said it was probably made in the 1960's. See what we have to look forward to wearing in our old age?


Memphis update:

Just had lunch at the Celtic Crossing. DJ, the owner, was being interviewed for an article in the Lamplighter, a local alternative publication. I hadn't even crossed the threshold (in my SWK Saffron) when he and the lady insist I pose outside the front door for a publicity pic, which translated into a complementary Belhaven. The article is supposed to come out in June.

I do enjoy my visits here. Memphis is a kilt-friendly town, I must say.

I got a wild hair up my a$$ and that was the last of the styled hair on my head. That thread on baldies a while back got me to thinking.... one thing led to another. Don't worry, I'll grow a long mustache and do a comb-up.
