    Two More Projects Complete !!!

Finished second front and flap for sporran detailed on

    http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=26973

This one is elk skin. The tassels were made from 16mm sterling silver beads and black and brown horsehair.

    Back view

    Also finished belt and buckle.

Belt is 3" wide. Buckle is about 4". Back plate is made from Armetale, an aluminum alloy that is usually mistakenly called pewter.

The clan badge is the Snodgrass Clan Society badge and is of real pewter.

The leather on the belt disappointed me as to the way it finished, so I am going to replace it when time permits.

Impressive work. I like how you made the sporran loop out of the front flap.

    Well Done!

Nice work. I would not have thought about using screws and nuts to hold the flap in place.

Actually it is not a screw and nut, it is whats called a Chicago screw.

I have found the Chicago screw handy for sporran straps and on belts, any place where I want to join a thickness of material and may want to unjoin them later.

I first came across them when working with account ledgers in accounting, they come in various lengths.

May I ask how you made the buckle? It's a fine piece of work.

    Looks great. Very professional.
Just a thought: maybe reverse the chicago screws to eliminate any chance of the screwheads pilling the tartan?

Chicago screws are also known by SEVERAL other names. The best thing to do is a grap from this thread, print it, and TAKE IT to the store saying "I want THIS!"
Each store seems to have their OWN name for them and have NO IDEA of any other names.

Also, without SOMETHING to keep them from unscrewing during use. I've lost a few over the years. A releasable bolt/nut locking fluid works well. Heck, fingernail polish works OK too. DO NOT use Lock-Tite, it makes them into rivets!

    I LOVE the sporran!!!!!!
The way you did the replacable flap is GREAT!!!
