I am no authority on current politics, but trusting P1M and others I sent the following message:

Dear Mr. Salmond,

Congratulations on your election. Please know that there are many
people all over the world who are proud of their Scots heritage who are
thrilled that a proud Scot such as yourself is now in a position to move
Scotland forward. Wear your kilts proudly and often, as do I.

And here's the reply I just received:
