It's probably blasphemy in here, but I prefer Bushmill's single malt Irish to any Scotch I've ever had.

It probably IS blasphemy, but I agree. I'll say, however, that I prefer Jameson's to Bushmill's.

Without a doubt Cock Of The North (even if it is a liqueur it's still a single malt)
My personal pick of the single malts would have to be St. Magdalene, although the distillery closed in the mid-80's. Out of my cabinet at present it'd be the 23yr old Glengoyne. Glenfarklas (sp?) if you can get it, otherwise, you cant go wrong with any Speyside.

Yummy, yummy, yummy.
Out of curiosity and ignorance (could have sent a PM, but the teacher in me says there are more out there with the same questions):
The Mortlach 60 yr auld... Was it bottled in 1938,? Destilled in 1938 and bottled in 1998, or how are the years counted?

It was distilled in 1938 and bottled in 1998. The "age" of a whiskey refers to the time in the cask. Once it hits a bottle, which is vacuum sealed, the aging stops. How long it has been since the bottling is of limited interest.

That was the first Scotch Whiskey RR steered me to at the Flagstaff Games. What a great way to be introduce to Scotch.... and what a horrible way $85 a bottle . I always knew I had expensive tastes. Still that's why I haven't got any of the really expensive stuff in the triple digits, my school teacher pay will only support so much.... and I still have Kilts to by.
Right now I'm sipping a Laphroaig 10, it's very nice. Well Cheers...

Reason: remember the $400 Scotch I saw the day I bought mine
