My mother has quilted for years and as TheSP8 I have a "bit of knowledge by proximity" and often know more than the sales ladies. However, a couple of months ago a asked a sales lady when the wrinkle resistant material was located. She asked what I was making and when I said a kilt she said that she understood. She was a physical education teacher a number of years before and wore kilts in class. She also said that she made her own and with that we began a discussion of kilt construction.

This was a totaly strange experience at Joann's most don't seem to even know what a kilt is.

I'd be interested in purchasing some fabric. X Marks would be nice. How about Isle of Skye? I'd bet that would be a hot seller to the folks here.

...and that's a good point...the very common tartans might not sell as well because everybody already has them in one form or another...like Black Watch, Black Stewart...the usual suspects.

IOS seems to be on everybody's want-list. Xsmarks would be great but might not appeal to many folks outside the forum...even though it is a damn handsome tartan.

I put my vote towards the Isle of Skye tartan, it would be a nice choice in PV.

Ok, I've talked myself into it.

I need both an Isle of Skye and an X-Marks kilt in this new and still imaginary fabric. Who wants to take my order?

I might be tempted with a Rose Hunting Modern.

B.T.W. I prefer Hancock Fabric over Joann's. you can sometimes get wool at Hancock even an occasional tartan.

I'm in for either 4 yards or 8 yards depending how wide the fabric is.
