BC Highland Games June 30th
Well folks, it is rounding up to June and like many in the Vancouver area, my thoughts are turning to the last weekend of June
That's right on June 30th the BC Highland Games are again taking plac ein Coquitlam. I look forward to these games all year long. Not only for the spin of the pleats, the sound of the pipes, the whisky tastings, the vendors with their wares, or the always fun beer garden, but rather because it is exactly a 15 -20 mintue walk to my house
This year I am planning on taking the family in the morning (my wife is winning the shortbread competition) and than going for a quick dip in the pool (not at the games) and returning for a few drinks and to watch the mass pipeband in the early evening. We may even continue the evening at a little place I know with plenty of tartan and some good thirst quenchers.
Is anyone else planning on coming out for the games? I am sure that Big Mikey will be there, and I hope to see Rob MacDonald cursing Burnaby mountain , but what about the rest of you?

I will post a few links to other BC Games in the next few days. Did anyone go to the Victoria games?

I'll be there for sure! It's been marked on my calender for the last few months and am slowly getting more and more excited as the time grows nearer. I missed it last year so this will be my first taste of the highland games.
We should arrange to have a meeting place somewhere (the whisky tent maybe?) so we (I) can finally put faces to names.

Tell you what, Colin. You come to the Sons of Scotland games, and I'll walk the fifteen minutes to see you. Much, much smaller than the BC games, and no athletics. But it does have the advantage of being handy.

I will check my schedule and let you know Ron. I have the Relay for Life the weekend before, but I can't recall what the weekend of the 9th looks like at this point.

That Sons of Scotland games thing sounds cool. I'll see if I can make it out to that.

Let us Calgarians know if you're coming out this way.

Is anyone interested in doing the whisky tasting? We did it last year and it was great. Make sure someone else is driving though
There are 4 seatings this year http://www.bchighlandgames.com/attractions/whiskey.php I am leaning towards the 3:30 tasting which would let me listen to the Alexander Brothers and still make it for the mass pipeband at 6ish
