Clan cheifs and Scotty Thompson notwithstanding, to me it seems a little unnatural to tuck my vest into my kilt. I would never tuck my vest into my pants, so why would I with the kilt?

I don't wear a belt with the vest because the vest would either fully or partially cover the belt. With no belt, there is a nice clean line from the vest to the kilt that looks very nice and neat.

Sometimes if I am wearing an open vest, I will wear a belt, but never with the vest closed.

Oh, and as for summer weddings, personally I'd wear a long sleeved shirt and then roll them up if I get warm. Long sleeves are a bit dressier than short sleeves. Someone told me once that anytime he saw a grown man in a short sleeved white shirt with a tie it made him think of Homer Simpson, and I've never worn them since! :-)

    Well Said Matt!
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

When you buy a Prince Charlie rig you do not normally get a belt with it. Likewise in military rig if you're wearing a waist coat you don't wear a belt.

If you have a Argyll Jacket a belt would be appropriate. This is the type of Rig I'd suggest wearing to your "hot" wedding if you don't choose something more casual

I have a huge kilt which is far too big if I have to wear it with a waistcoat I'll wear braces so it doesn't fall down, I wouldn't consider wearing a belt.

At he end of the day its not something to get anal over, if you can, try both a YOU decide what looks best
