Hey brother, it's no fun beating up hill. Made that trip several times myself but never is such a light craft as yours. You're up to the task and so is your vessel. We'll expect to hear of your adventure in a posting on Sunday.

Alan, you're my hero today. Wish I was casting off on the morrow myself. I could use some deck time just now, and I hope to get some later this summer. there's nothing like a good breeze, and an ultralight boat should make for pretty fast sailing. (Let's see, the square root of the LWL X 1/4, hmmmm)
Here's wishing you a fair wind and a pleasant sea.
And Steve, you're the real hero. What a great tale. I'll bet you feel like the guy on "Then Came Bronson," when the dude on the car looked at him on the bike heading out and said, "Wish I was going with you." His response--every week-- was, "Hang in there."

Alan - we leave tomorrow for four to five days cruising in Pamlico Sound out to Cape Lookout and maybe offshore to Wilmington NC. So we will be thinking of you while we are out, and wish you fair winds and following seas.
