Poodles, particularly standard poodles, (not the little ankle bitter, careful don't step on me kind) traditionally are corded or dreadlocked. The problem with this is that there is a considerable amount of extra care needed in grooming. The cords have to be kept washed and must be completely dried to prevent rotting and other pest issues.

    Puli Pups

    Hi,

Puli pups are appox. 6 weeks old and are a joy to watch as they "herd" each other around the grounds. Needless to say, they are also well liked by my grandchildren.

The pup in the middle pic would love to find a loving home in Reston!

    Kinda like "Cousin It".

This thread has gone far better than I had hoped. I stumbled across the original pic on a different forum and thought immediately of Dread. Now I know about a different type of dog that I'd never heard of before.

    Possible info overload

    Hi,

The Puli pictured in your posting is a Golden Puli, which in not too popular, nor is it shown in the USA; they are however, shown in Hungary. In addition, there is a white coated variety.

That is just SO not fair. We both love dogs and that one is a real cutie but it wouldn't be fair to the little pup. We are barely home enough to spend quality time with our 12 year old cat much less a puppy of a very active breed.

    Someday though...someday.

There's also the komondor, a larger, lighter-colored corded breed.

    Hi,

You are quite right, the Komondor is another corded Hungarian herding dog that looks similiar to but is larger than a Puli.

Please be aware, the Komondor is a FEROCIOUS breed and it will fiercely defend its territory, to the death, against any and all intruders, 4 legged and/or 2 legged.

IMHO, this is not a breed for the avarage household and should be left to the specialty breeder with the proper setting.

Aint nothing wrong with being ugly you know. Ugly is as ugly does. Not everything in this world has to be beautiful or perfect. Ugly is just part of the balance. If everything was beautiful, we wouldn't know it. We would have nothing to measure a standard of beauty against. Give thanks for the grotesque, give praise for the odd.

    Beauty is only skin deep
    Ugly is to the bone
    Beauty gradually fades with age
While ugly will always hold its own

I think the dog is beautiful, let's hear it for the freaks!
