    Maybe this is an idea...

A 1" badge is big enough...as a badge, but it's too small to stand alone as a kilt pin, but when you attach it to a "background" pin it will look great.

Maybe a standard clan crest sword pin...remove the clan crest (with some respect) and attach the badge to it. Other kilt pins can be used also of course.

Drill a small hole (or 2?) in the background pin, cut the pins on the back of the badge to 4 or 5 mm. Use 2 part epoxy glue....done.

Good suggestion, Robin. Basically, take this:

    And superimpose this:

to come up with something like this:

That's obviously just a mock-up, but you get the idea.

    Hey MacD,

When I was looking for a larger SSGT insignia to do the same thing in my little brother's memory couldn't find one. But, the folks at Semper Fi Mac offered to make one. As I recall the price was pretty reasonable.

You might give them a shout. Apparently casting custom pins is a regular thing for them. The stuff I did buy off the shelf was good quality.

Thanks, guys. I'm waffling about having a custom one cast, because it's pricy, and I'm poor, but those are great resources. I've also found a place called DeSignet that'll do a custom pin for me.

And, don't forget all the Navajo and Hopi metalworker/artists in your area. You can get some good deals if you look and are lucky.

Another good idea! At the Prescott games, I ran into a fellow from SAMS who had a very nice Hopi "man in the maze" belt buckle for his kilt belt.
