Kilted at the Coca-Cola 600
Just caught this, but at the Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR Nextel Cup race, they had a kilted bagpipe quartet playing "Amazing Grace".
Quite impressive...don't know who those guys were, I was out of the room when they gave who they were, but I heard pipes and saw them.

There pipes playing at the Indy 500 too, but I was a bit disappointed, they never showed the pipers. You could hear them faintly behind the commentators during pre-race ceremonies. I missed the ones at Charlotte though, I was still watching Indy when it came on. I did, however, enjoy seeing someone other than Stewart or Johnson win.

FYI:
Casey Mears, who won, is the son of Roger Mears (former Indy driver) and nephew of Rick Mears (famous Indy Car driver and winner of Indy 500).
I have pulled for Casey since his rookie year in cup (and in Busch series the year before). I am SO EXCITED he won, and for JJ Yeley (former rising open wheel "rising star"), Kyle Petty (son of Richard Petty), and the rest of the top 5, most of which are usually fighting for 15 on back somewhere.

Lets not forget...Dario Franchitti(A Scot) won the Indy 500.
Yes it was good to see some unfamiliar faces in Victory Lane...but darn it, I like Tony Stewart.

Does anyone know how a Scot wound up with a name like that?

Born and raised in Scotland with Italian parents.
Dario is also Mr. Ashley Judd.
(I pulled for him in the Indy 500)
Side note: At one time, there was a lawsuit between Dario and Coultard about helmet design, though I forget which was the plainiff.
Dario added the present Italian elements to his as a result of the lawsuit.

Thanks. Dario was one of the 3 I was pulling for. Of course the others were also "Andretti Green" too, Danika and Marco.

Another kilted member of the Andretti Green cheering section here. I was so sick with the flu, I barely managed to see most of it through my exhausted haze. But what a scary moment for Marco. Being upside down at 200+ didn't look like much fun. Rusty Wallace, in the booth, knows what that's like after ol' #3 bumped him coming off the last turn at Talledega in '93 and sent him across the finish line backwards and airborne before flipping and rolling in the infield. Thank God Marco came out of that one!

Danika was born in my hometown. I guess I would root for her, if I ever watched Indy racing.

You don't need to root for Danika. Enough members of the press corp do it for you.
